Electrum is a long-standing Bitcoin-only desktop wallet: light, scriptable, Tor-friendly and unusually explicit about fees. That last part is the reason this guide exists — Electrum lets you set a fee low enough to cause a real problem when you are funding a time-limited swap.
Set a fee that confirms, not the cheapest one
An order is valid for a limited window. Bitcoin only counts as received once it confirms, so a deposit sent at a rock-bottom fee can sit in the mempool past the point where the order is still valid. Electrum shows an estimated confirmation target next to the fee — pick one that lands in the next block or two rather than the absolute minimum. The few cents you save are not worth re-doing the order.
- Use Electrum's fee slider and watch the estimated confirmation time, not just the sat/vB figure.
- Send the exact amount the order asks for.
- If you enabled replace-by-fee, do not leave a deposit underpaid and plan to bump it later — bump it immediately or send properly the first time.
Create the order on 0trace
- Choose Bitcoin as what you send and pick what you want to receive.
- Paste the payout address for the receiving chain — for Monero that means a Monero wallet such as Cake Wallet, Feather or the official GUI.
- Check the receive amount: the service fee and the payout network cost are already deducted.
- Save the PGP-signed Guarantee before you broadcast anything from Electrum.
The Guarantee pins the deposit address, both amounts, the rate type and your payout address, and it is signed before you send. Verify it with gpg --verify or on our verify page — no interaction with us required. A Receipt is issued after the payout.
Tor and privacy notes
Electrum can route through Tor, and 0trace runs with no Cloudflare in front of it, so creating the order over Tor works without captcha walls. Bear in mind that Electrum by default talks to public servers, which see the addresses it queries — that is a property of your wallet setup, not of the swap.
After confirmation
Minimum swap size is $40. Once your Bitcoin confirms, the payout goes out automatically. On a float rate the quote tracks the market until confirmation, so a slow confirmation can move the final figure; a fixed rate does not move. Completed orders are removed after 72 hours.
